A well defined production implementation and roll-out plan is a necessity – especially when implementing thousands of user identities or smart cards in a large enterprise environment. Implementation planning can be greatly facilitated through a pilot implementation which takes lessons learned from a test environment and rolls the capability out to a small, but representative set of users. The deployment can then be increased to a wider set of users as the identity solution is implemented.

Ensuring that proper knowledge transfer and training takes place for the end-users is integral to the implementation strategy. Depending on the deployment approach, this could occur before or during enrollment of the user into the system.
