Avaleris Announces Technical Support & Services for Microsoft Identity Lifecycle Manager (ILM) 2007
Ottawa, Ontario - February 22, 2007 - Avaleris® Inc., a global provider of Identity Assurance professional services and integrated smart card / digital certificate based identity lifecycle management solutions, today announced it will provide technical support and services for Microsoft’s Identity Lifecycle Manager
(ILM) 2007 product within its Identity Assurance service offerings. Microsoft ILM 2007 provides an integrated and comprehensive solution for managing the entire lifecycle of a user’s digital identity – and was one of a number of Microsoft® announcements at RSA Conference 2007 in support of Microsoft’s vision for secure and easy “anywhere access” outlined in the keynote address by Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates and Chief Research & Strategy Officer Craig Mundie.
With the proliferation of users and devices in an organization, along with a greater need to collaborate internally and externally, the task of managing digital identities has become far more complex. Organizations today have to deal with the complexity of distributed applications and data, internal and external security regulations, and with ensuring only authorized users have access.
Microsoft ILM 2007 simplifies the lifecycle management of a user’s digital identity by providing an integrated approach that pulls together identity synchronization, smart card and digital certificate management, password management, and user provisioning in one solution across Windows® and other enterprise systems. Microsoft also unveiled a comprehensive strategy and road map for identity lifecycle management, including planned availability of ILM “2”, the next version of ILM, with availability anticipated for late 2008. Additional information can be found here.
“Avaleris’ heritage, professional experience, domain and technical expertise in Microsoft Identity and Access (IDA) products position us extremely well to assist our customers to deploy smart card and digital certificate based identity lifecycle management solutions in a manner that supports existing management processes and security practices required by their business”, says Bill Tompkins, Vice President, Marketing and Business Development, Avaleris. “We are pleased to extend our existing Microsoft Certificate Lifecycle Manager (CLM) service offerings to include support of ILM 2007 and to continue working closely with Microsoft to deliver best-of-breed Identity Solutions to our customers. We will continue to offer technical support and services to customers that are currently evaluating and/or using Microsoft CLM Beta 2 as announced in November, 2006 – as well as migration services to ILM 2007 when it becomes available to customers in May.”
“Organizations are increasingly turning to smart card and digital certificate based solutions to protect digital identities as traditional username and password solutions become increasingly insufficient,” says John Chirapurath, director of marketing for Identity and Access Product Management at Microsoft. “Avaleris’ experience in this area and with ILM 2007 makes them a valuable partner as we work to enable our customers to address their identity management and strong authentication requirements.”
