Security Consultant / System Engineer

This role will include the delivery of security oriented professional services engagements to our international clients – both onsite at our client’s premises and from our head office in Ottawa.

The consultant will be responsible for assigned custom solutions and tasks to integrate the client’s technology into a complete Identity Management system. The consultant will also have hands-on responsibility for the implementation, integration, and deployment of Identity related solutions. Tasks may also include general consulting and assessment, product installation, configuration and customization of products and applications.

Candidates must be self-motivated and able to act autonomously under the direction of a project manager and/or other senior technical personnel. Applicants must have an intrinsic desire to study and apply leading-edge technology expertise. Successful candidates must be able to interpret potential opportunities within their current engagements as well as evangelize Avaleris' offerings to prospective customers.

The responsibilities and challenges of this role would encompass:

• Working closely with and supporting the sales team, including: presenting Avaleris service offerings to prospective customers; conference calls; site visits; customer presentations; technical evaluations; and follow-up on all customer related items;
• Participation in the gathering and analysis of client requirements;
• Design, development and deployment of Identity related solutions as it directly relates to a client’s requirements;
• Installation and configuration of Identity products / technologies and resolution of related customer support issues;
• Working as a technical resource to identify, replicate and resolve difficult technical issues that lie within the diverse realms of networking, network security, applications, operating systems and the often complicated nature of the customer relationship;
• Proficiently manage customer situations and set customer expectations appropriately, creating resolution plans as necessary;
• Solid commitment to providing superior customer relationships to all Avaleris clients;
• This role may entail approximately 50% travel.

Required skills and competencies of this role would entail:

• Excellent presentation, business communication (oral and written), documentation and project management skills;
• Highly professional representation of Avaleris in a range of customer situations;
• Capability to create and maintain successful customer relationships;
• Demonstrated self-starter with the ability to work independently with minimum guidance;
• Strong sense of commitment to high-quality deliverables;
• Knowledge and experience in at least one leading commercial directory services product such as Active Directory, Critical Path or Siemens;
• General programming and database development experience specifically with MS-SQL Server and Active Server pages.

Qualifications:

• A minimum of three to four years relevant industry experience in IT / IT Security area;
• University degree or college diploma in Computer Science;
• Ideal candidates will have demonstrated experience in customer facing roles;
• Technical Certifications: MCSE, MCSA, CISSP or SCCP would be desirable;
• Secret clearance or higher is desirable;
• Previous IT security consulting experience would be an asset.
